Who we are

Having worked and trained as a butcher for years, Billy Murphy took the leap and founded Billy Murphy Quality Meats in 1982. The name quickly became associated with quality and innovation, and this continues to this day. Along the way we've added a delicatessen section, a baked goods section and a hugely popular ready-to-heat food section. Oh and Billy's son Aidan stepped in to the business, having served his time as a qualified Craft Butcher and trained as a chef in the prestigious Waterford Castle. Add in our squad of expert trained chefs, bakers and butchers to our experience, expertise and innovation of Billy Murphy & Son and you've got quite the mix.

Farm to Fork

We pride ourselves on soucring local produce of the highest quality. Epitomising this is our approach to Beef. We only choose Hereford and Aberdeen Angus Beef from a select pool of farms in the Suir Valley are of Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford. All of our cattle are selected from within 30 miles of our store in Waterford City, meaning in many cases our customers have travelled farther than our beef! All cattle are handpicked by Billy himself based on strict criteria of weight, age and form ensuring the finest quality beef and steaks in our store and available online. 

And we're just as fussy about our pork, poultry, lamb and any other, only working with trusted suppliers, and accepting the finest, local produce. 

Our Store

Our store is located in Waterford Shopping Centre, Lisduggan, where we have been for over 30 years. We stock a wide range of meat products, ready-to-cook range, baked goods, ready-to-heat meals as well as a delicatessen and hot food section.
